January 31th 2017 is a day that our family received the worse news ever. This is the day that we found out that my Mother (Donna Bretzman) and my confidant was diagnosed with Terminal Stage 4 lung cancer that has metastasized to the Adrenal gland.
The doctor’s have given my Mother one year to live with the possibly of an additional 6 months to a year if a new medication is successful which is with 5% of the patients that have taken this medication. Nine years ago my mom adopted my niece and nephew whom are now 16 and 13 respectfully. Erica and Aaron have blossomed and achieved much more than ever expected due to my Mother’s love and care. My mom’s illness has left her unable to work and financially strapped. My Mother at the age of 73 years old and her husband of 20 years (Jim) are a two income family just like a lot of us. This will be a struggle for them.
The last thing that I want is for my mom to be worried about making ends meet. My goal is to ensure that she is comfortable and worry free during her time. Mom has always been the giver, she has always been the first to offer a helping hand, and has always been the one that everyone could count on if needed. Anyone that knows my Mother knows that she is a selfless, kind, wonderful and an amazing woman. Any help for my Mother during this tragic time would be very much appreciated. Please feel free to share this post. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. God Bless!
