My name is Boris Arias, and I graduated from LSU in 2016. I started playing tennis in La Paz, Bolivia where I lived until I went to LSU in 2012. In Bolivia I won multiple national tournaments and my career high ranking in ITF was 64, which allowed me to play the Junior US Open in New York. In college I played in every court but mainly on courts 3-5 in singles and court 1 in doubles. My best ranking in doubles was 4 in the country where I became All-American my junior and senior year.
I started playing professional tournaments as soon as I graduated from LSU in 2016 where I got my first point in my first tournament in Colombia. In 2016 I finished 1323 in singles and 1061 in doubles. In 2017 I won 5 doubles titles out of the 12 finals I played. With all these results I finished the year 1110 in singles and 313 in doubles, and in 2018 I ended 279 in doubles.
In the past 2 years, I've played 52 weeks of tournaments in 12 different countries. My total prize money for those 52 weeks is a little over $17,500. Obviously, I have been fortunate enough to have people donate to me in the past, otherwise these past 2 years wouldn't have been possible. To continue to push towards my goals, I need to continue to raise money until I get to the point of being financially stable where I can support myself on the tour. Any donations received will first go towards my flights and hotels, which are my biggest expenses. I would be truly grateful for any sort of donation or aid, no matter how small, it is significant and certainly greatly appreciated.
My current fundraising goal is $20,000. This amount would give me the opportunity to continue to play tennis and hopefully allow me to reach my goal of cracking the top 100 of doubles by the end of 2019.
