Hello community!

After a ten year on and off journey, I finally have approval and a date to get top surgery! I’m so excited to finally take this step and receive this life giving care that will allow me to live more freely as myself. But I need your help. 

 

The last two years have been a whirlwind with moving across the country, working hard at multiple new jobs, and settling into new routine on a new coast and trying to build community. All of this happened just after losing my dad, my mom having a terrible accident a few months later, and dealing with my own autoimmune health issues. These factors had a large impact on me, however I am mostly still feeling the financial burden from it. This is where you come in.

 

While I have been pursuing this surgery for some time, the financial aspect has been very inhibiting. But I can’t let that get in the way of living a full life how I want to live it. However, along with the surgery itself, there are other financial factors that I must consider like...

These financial aspects become even more challenging since I will have to take off from full time and part time work during recovery so the extra income I have been getting to cover all my expenses will be temporarily suspended. As someone with chronic illness and disability recovery may take longer than usual, so I want to make sure I set myself up for success during this time as much as possible!

 

Because of all of the above I’m raising funds to help plan and get through the surgery and weeks that follow. 

 

Anything you can offer is so greatly appreciated. While I worked hard to budget appropriately and raise funds for what I need, I can assure you that any unused funds will be paid forward to other trans folks raising funds for their gender affirming care. There are so many people and places to be giving money this season and anything is helpful including just sharing this with your networks and communities!
