Dennis Batte & Family Flood Relief
Donation protected
My family members, Dennis, Kim and their 12 year old daughter, Annalyse Batte, woke up early Saturday morning to find they were in the middle of a lake. The heavy rain and flashflooding in Denham Springs, LA forced them to leave their home and all of their belongings as the rising waters were knee deep. Their vehicles are submerged and a total loss. With just what they could carry out they waded through rising waters that were mid-chest deep. It has only gotten worse.
They were able to make it to higher ground, only to be forced to seek even higher ground as the water began to rise. An individual with an 18-wheeler lowboy happened upon them along with about 300 other people. He loaded them up and took them to higher ground. This individual made 3 trips to rescue everyone and get them out of danger.
As of right now, everyone is safe. Dennis' son, Jacob found them and they are able to stay with his family on higher ground.
Dennis and Jacob work together at a wood working company. This company has 4 feet of standing water in the shop and yard. Their employment status, at this point, is uncertain.
The road to relief will be long and hard and every penny helps. All of the money raised will be used to help them survive and re-establish their home. Unfortunately, they were not required to carry flood insurance on their home. Therfore, insurance will not cover any of their loss and will have to be paid out-of-pocket.
Dennis and his family are very giving to those around them. They are so deserving and always trying to help others in need. This morning they were able to get to a grocery store and came across a young couple with a baby who had just moved to LA from CO. They didn't have any money or milk to feed their baby and the mom had lost her shoes in the flood. Dennis took the young family back to his son's house and gave the mom his shoes, milk for the baby and money for the family to eat. In trying times like this, not many people would be willing to help others who are struggling just as much as they are.
I can't begin to put into words how wonderful this family is and how thankful they would be for any help that they will receive. I know that if my family were in need they would be one of the first to try and help us in any way possible. Every donation collected will not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
