Those of you who know me, know that I am a counselor and that many of my clients have very restricted incomes.  Some situations are compounded by lack of medical resources in Johnson County. For obvious reasons, I cannot name the clients.

If you know me, you also know that I would not ask for funds without good reason.  

I am currently working with a family in which one of them needs surgery to complete treatment that was started last year and the surgeon has told them that they must pay up front in order to finish.  They have exhausted every resource available to them in an effort to get this done.  They are currently on their 3rd attempt applying for Social Security Disability and other family members are working as hard as they can to make enough to live on, pay for meds, and still going in the hole every month. The patient was the primary breadwinner in the family and cannot work.  They live as frugally as possible and still must decide weekly whether to buy gas to get to work or much needed meds (even with discounted meds).

This is an awesome family who have found themselves in bad circumstances.

If I could afford to cover this myself, I would.
