Eleven years ago my family and I were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We evacuated with three articles of clothing each, other then that we lost everything we'd ever owned. Including the only place we ever called home. In the aftermath of Katrina my family relocated to Baton Rouge. Throughout this long and stressful process my parents saw it fit to separate and get a divorce. With my father always being the "bread winner" of the house and my mother being a stay at home full time mom and babysitter this left her in an extremely difficult financial situation. When the flood of Baton Rouge hit my mom was working full time, paying off her town home and car, and had finally gotten her new "home" furnished to her liking. Though with all of this being said she was still never in what one would call a comfortable financial position. That being said, she could not afford flood insurance amongst her other bills. At this point everything my mother has worked for is 9 ft. under water. She's lost everything yet again...




My name is Jordan Alphonso my mothers name is Karen Alphonso, I am originally from Chalmette Louisiana, Relocated to Denham Springs Louisina, and am currently living in Vallecito California. This fund is primarily for my mother, and to help the surrounding community of Denham Springs. Initially the funds will be going towards helping my mom to gut and refurbish her home. Next they will go towards furniture and other necasaey home accessories. Once this is accomplished any additional money raised will go to other struggling members of the Denham Springs area (which will be decided by my mother). My mother has full access to my account which is where the funds raised will be placed directly from this account.
