ZARAIAH'S JOURNEY Schizencephaly
Donation protected
My precious one and only 7mo granddaughter was diagnosed with Severe brain abnormalities this week and it's been a lot to take in all at once. I have her in my custody and as a single mom/grandma and caregiver for my disabled parents, I would be blessed to have any help I can, as this is a journey for my angel and we are going to get the best care possible for her to prevail.
In the coming weeks, months, and years will present many obstacles for Zaraiah and her family.
These changes will also come with significant financial burdens.
This is her diagnosis:
*Bilateral and bitemporal schizencephaly
Schizencephaly is a rare birth defect. It causes slits or clefts in the cerebral hemispheres of your brain along with grey matter. These closed lip clefts are on both sides (bilateral)of her brain, as well on both sides (bitemporal) of her temporal (front section) of her brain. They are filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
*Septo-optic dysplasia:
A rare congenital malformation syndrome featuring underdevelopment of the optic nerve, pituitary gland dysfunction, and absence of the septum pellucidum (a midline part of the brain).
*Bilateral polymicrogyria:
“Poly” means many, “micro” means very small, and “gyria” is the medical term for the wrinkles in the brain. ... With PMG, that process is altered and it causes the brain to form improperly.. So the outer cortex of her brain is very rigid and not smooth, again, on both sides of her brain.
Infantile spasm (IS) :
This is a specific type of seizure seen in an epilepsy syndrome of infancy and childhood known as West Syndrome. West Syndrome is characterized by infantile spasms, developmental regression, and a specific pattern on electroencephalography (EEG) testing called hypsarrhythmia (chaotic brain waves).
PLEASE LIFT HER IN PRAYER.
She needs a miracle.
