John Robert Kotfila Jr. Memorial Fund
The non-profit John Robert Kotfila Jr. Memorial Fund has been launched to honor the memory of Deputy John Robert Kotfila, Jr.; A true HERO in every sense of the word.
Deputy John Robert Kotfila Jr. was a six year veteran of the Hillsboro County Sheriff's Department whose watch tragically ended on March 12, 2016, as he heroically, and with selfless courage, sacrificed his life to save two innocent civilians from a wrong way drunk driver.
Our goal is to raise upwards of $100,000 to provide assistance to law enforcement families that have suffered a tragic loss, scholarships to students seeking to pursue education in criminology, MADD ignition interlock campaign http://www.madd.org/drunk-driving/ignition-interlocks/ , as well as John Robert’s favorite charities.
About John Robert Jr.…
John Robert was 30 year Cape Cod native; raised in Falmouth, a graduate of Falmouth High School, and Westfield State College. He was an honorable, hardworking deputy sheriff that loved his law enforcement career, his family, his many, many friends, co-workers, and beloved German Shepard, Dexter who now resides with the Kotfila family in Falmouth, Massachusetts. He had an amazing infectious smile that always made people feel welcome, and he left everlasting memories with all that knew him.
“He is A FANTASTIC and humble friend with a million dollar smile.”
In addition, the legacy of HCSO Deputy Kotfila will always live on as a founding member of the Sheriff's Office Safety Net Team. Safety Net is a national search and rescue program that assists children and adults with special needs, Alzheimer’s, autism or any medical condition that causes a tendency to wander away from home and become lost
“John was selected because of his attitude. He was a well-rounded person that you wanted to be around,” said HCSO Sgt. Jeffery Massaro. "John made us better. He made this program better. He makes this sheriff’s office better and he is going to be missed.”
John Robert’s dedication to life, and to his profession, will be remembered forever for many things; love of family, volunteerism, dependability, integrity, honor, dedication to duty and an abundance of good humor.
