Breath of Heaven-Zambia 2017

Donation protected
October 2013 as I sat in church Micah and Alicia Orloff
ascended the stage to share about a village in Zambia, Africa... Breath of Heaven . They enlightened us on the plight of children who are orphaned especially to parents dying of A.I.D.S. and their mission to go take clothes and supplies so that Breath of Heaven can provide for and educate these kids who would  otherwise be left to roam the dirt roads in poverty.
As the video played, my ❤ was
stirred.....tears  streamed down my face. Before that morning, my name and Africa had never been used in
the same sentence. It had to be Godnudging me to go.I questioned what I had to offer these children. My grandma often said, "God doesn't  call the qualified, he qualifies the called."
My practical side kicked in and reminded me I'm the single mother of 2  boys, my job, bills, and bank balance.  It would have to be God's will for me to have my deposit in on time.
The next day a  friend felt led to bless me with a gift...cash. (Not knowing any of this)
He didn't specify what I was to use it for, so I quickly weighed what that amount could by for my kids,
myself, or my home, but I stepped.  out in faith, wrote my deposit check, and confirmed that I was 'all in.'
Family, friends, and strangers came  out of the woodwork to show support. $ raised, obstacles overcome, and I saw God  through all of it. The most life changing and eye opening experience of my life.
A 22 hour flight took us to the other side of the world........into another  world, where Mother's sat
alongside roads with their babie .  strapped to their bodies while they  broke rocks to sell.
Chickens ate from piles of trash  along narrow streets while young,  dirty, barefoot children built fires to
play by with no adult supervision.  Families were living in homes with no roofs. Children ran alongside our car as if they didn't often see  Americans.Like we might be bringinghope to their otherwise bleak
landscape.
The first full day there, I mourned over the poverty and this seemingly hopeless situation.  As I
prayed over it all, I felt God presence as if He was there with me having a conversation. I felt Him give
me a word that I didn't understand. "Shekinah"   which doesn't appear in the Bible but the concept clearly. does. It is a Hebrew word from old
testament days that means a visible  manifestation of God's presence.  When the Israelites set out to
escape Egypt there appeared a pillar of cloud that went before them to guide them by day and a pillar of
fire to give light by night.
Shekinah.....God's glory. His presence was clearly felt in that village and
my sadness was replaced with joy  that God could use me.  He did!!!
Breath of Heaven has brought hope to children born into this kind of  poverty and orphaned by disease. Medical facilites are severly inadecquate but because of people who were led to go, partnered with them in generous giving to send people like me to go, or those who just donate directly to the village...they are now building a medical facility right there on the property.
Education and hope for much of a
future? Well, there isn't much in the country.
Breath of Heaven has built 8 small  homes taking in orphans who have lost one or both parents.
They are providing a place to live and a better education than most in that country receive.
These kids are starved for love, yet they have so much love to give. They have nothing, but
appreciate everything!!! Milk is a luxury. They get excitedabout an empty water bottle to refill & freeze
for the next day. They play barefoot on sharp, hard rocks and are excited to have someone like you & I to come play with them.
I left there in 2014 praying God would send me back.
I was so sad when I was supposed to return this summer with a team, but after learning I was expecting my 1st grand baby, I had to put this dream on hold. I'm happy to announce that God is making it possible for my return next July
I humbly ask anyone reading this to pray for our team, for provision for all 16 of us to go, for our safety, to be used in mighty ways, and if you feel led to donate..... Every bit helps. Thank you for your support!!! God bless!
