EXTREME MEDICAL NEED: JAW SURGERY/ CHRONIC LYME DISEASE
In Oct. 2011 a drunk driver, driving three times over the legal alcohol limit, hit my Mom, Kathy Booth. Among her back and neck injuries, her bottom jaw slammed into her upper jaw which broke her two front teeth, shredded several ligaments, and dislocated her discs in her TM (jaw) Joints.
After a year of failed treatments, she had surgery on her jaw in Mar. 2013 and to this day she has never healed. In Dec. 2013 her doctor found a fourth brain tumor. She has dealt with brain tumors for 29 years and although two have been removed, surgery is no longer an option. In Feb. 2014 she tested positive for Late-Stage Neurological Chronic Lyme Disease and began treatment with a Biological Cancer and Chronic Illness specialist, which was not successful because her Central Nervous System was too fragile. In Jan. 2015, she went to the Mayo Clinic but despite another $25,000 in medical bills, they were unable to help her. She has not seen a doctor since because of financial strains.
My Mom has had Lyme Disease for 36 years; 34 years of which she was misdiagnosed. Time is crucial because Lyme bacteria reproduce in the bloodstream every 30 days. She’s in an extremely severe situation.
Even when she didn't know she had Lyme Disease, sometimes her ailing situation was unintentionally caught on camera.

Those who have this horrendous disease are left completely alone to find and fund their own treatment because insurance companies don’t cover Chronic Lyme Disease. Each treatment requires a year to respond to and if one doesn’t work, you go back to ground zero to find a new treatment and start all over again. My Mom is facing her third treatment.
This past May my Mom shared her story on my Facebook page to spread awareness about Chronic Lyme Disease. During that month she made contact with a man who found a treatment that put him and his family, who all had the disease, into remission for the past 15 years. The protocol costs $20,000+, which is out of pocket. Since then, she has been selling anything and everything to raise the funds herself. She is hesitant to ask others for help but at the rate she is going, she won’t have enough money to begin treatment until Jan. 2018. That’s when I said enough is enough! We must ask others for help.
The protocol consists of using a RIFE Machine, an alkalizing water treatment machine, several forms of detoxification including a medical grade Far Infrared Sauna, ionizing foot detox machine, and bi-weekly visits to a naturopathic md for in-office detoxes. Destroying the bacteria is just one of the grueling battles she faces, while another is removing the toxic die-off which can be deadly if not properly removed from the body. There are a dozen different food and nutritional supplements required on a monthly basis to help restore and assist her immune system.
She met with a neuromuscular dentist who is confident he can help her jaw pain by realigning her bite with the assistance of a neuromuscular orthodontist who can design personalized dental orthotics for her. This process alone is around $50,000 out of pocket. Clearly this is not an option as she can’t even afford her new jaw splints she needs right now which cost $2,800 up front also. (What's the purpose of insurance again?)
Her main focus is treating the Lyme Disease; however, she is caught in a vicious cycle because she can’t recover from the jaw problem because the inflammation keeps activating the Lyme Disease, but she can’t control the Lyme Disease because it's aggrivated by the jaw problem. Financially, it’s cheaper to address Lyme Disease first.
The physical pain she endures daily is indescribable, as any jaw motion including chewing, talking, and smiling seize up her neck, shoulders, and jaw muscles. For those who know her, taking away her ability to talk and smile is like taking the wind out of a sail. I am heartbroken to see this beautiful person who was so full of life shut down because of excessive trials and financial obligations. She lives in a physical and emotional prison and it’s literally breaking my heart. No matter how horrible she feels though, she will always put on a smile around other people, especially her adorable Grandson.

Yet at times, she has a hard time hiding it and I’m able to capture it…

She carries her classic warm smile, but her eyes always reveal a different story of how truly ill she really is.

It is evident she needs assistance far beyond what we alone can provide. My Dad has worked two jobs for many years, but there are no longer any credit cards, personal loans, or savings available to draw money from. We would be so grateful for any assistance you, or anyone you know, could provide.
Our Mom has remained hopeful through relentless years of misery, but I’m concerned about how long this can last. She is suffering greatly on all levels and it is our goal as a family to help her get the treatment she desperately needs and to remind her that faith, patience, and perseverance can produce miracles…miracles that can only come from the kindness and compassion of others.
Her sisters came to see her and they went to Sedona for a few hours. She loves this picture even though it took her over a month to recover from having it taken. This picture represents how far she has come, but also how very far she has to go.
She says she is not a "Survivor”… yet. For now, she is only “Surviving.”

Please help her. Every dollar helps toward a great cause. Thank you so much, we cannot do this alone.
