Greetings! My name is Brianna Henderson. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with over 10 years dedicated to helping our older adult population. I am the proud owner/CEO of Harmony Hospice and Harmony House.
Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Harmony Hospice had a patient who tested positive. He was sent to the hospital from his assisted living facility. His grandmother was his only family. She visited him every day until he was admitted to the hospital COVID unit. She was never able to speak or see him again. He died alone. I will forever be devastated by this story.
As I began to see more and more of these heartbreaking stories, I started to do some research. I found that there was nowhere for these COVID positive patients to go other than the hospital or a skilled nursing unit.
I felt compelled to do something about this. So, I asked for help from the Pima County Health Department. I am thrilled that they have contracted with Harmony House to fund this project through December 31st 2020.
Harmony House Tucson is a pilot program for COVID-19 positive older adults (65+). This is a FREE SERVICE for those that qualify. We provide short term, specialized, COVID care in our 10 bed licensed Assisted Living Home. . We will be accepting 65 and older patients from hospitals and skilled units and bringing them into a home like environment. They will have access to their friends, families, and a wonderful team of caregivers to help them recover and go back to wherever they call “home”.
