On August 7, 2016, the island of St. Croix was alarmed by the news of a plane crash that involved a 19-year old student and her 45-year old flight instructor. That student's name is Regine Acosta. She's currently studying at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and she is a product of the Virgin Islands' education system. Ms. Acosta graduated as the class salutatorian of Central High School just last year, and she has inspired a lot of people with her determination and passion for aviation.

This accident caused serious injuries to Ms. Acosta so she is still currently undergoing a series of tests and surgeries. She obtained fractures on her arms, face, and lower spine, but we thank God that she has survived that horrible incident. There aren’t many people who have survived a plane crash so Regine’s situation is a true example of a miracle, and it proves that God is faithful to those who are faithful to Him. I have known Regine from the time she was in elementary school and I have seen her grow into this beautiful, strong-minded young lady who loves God with all her heart. She has inspired a lot of people, including myself, to go after what we want no matter how difficult it may seem.
Regine is more than just a friend to me; she is a sister. It broke my heart when I heard about her accident because I know how much she loves flying and how hard she works in order to get her flying license. I still believe that Regine will not let this incident become a hindrance to her future and stop her from achieving her goals in life, but I know that the Acosta family is facing a much bigger problem now— Regine’s hospital bills. Due to the severity of her condition after the accident, Regine had to be airlifted to a hospital in Miami where she is currently being taken cared of. We are not sure how long she has to stay in the hospital, although we are all praying for her fast recovery. Therefore, I am asking in behalf of the Acosta family, if there are kind people who would be willing to donate some money in order to help pay for Regine’s hospital bills and just be a blessing to her life. The Acosta family has been a great blessing to us and to many other families who know them, so we would really like to help them now in their time of need. Please find it in your heart to sow into Regine’s life and the Acosta family as they go through these difficult times, and please keep Regine in your prayers as she continues on her road to recovery. Thank you all so much in advance!!!
