Just a few months ago Valerie's world was shaken upside down. She began a journey that no one would want to take. While thinking she was fighting a common "bug" that one might get, nothing could be further from the truth. Valerie tested positive for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. (ALL) She was going to need a lot of chemotherapy and be matched for a bone marrow transplant. Though this is more common in children and the elderly, "ALL" can attack all ages. That's a lot to hear and process for anyone.
For months on this new journey, Valerie has undergone aggressive chemotherapy to attack the cancer in her body. Her immune system is very low so she is being isolated to keep from catching a "bug". All these treatments are helping prepare her for a bone marrow transplant. For the most part she has done well . For which we are most thankful and grateful to God. We are also thankful for all of your prayers, calls and cards.
Her body is now showing signs of remission for which again we are grateful, but now we are at another critical step. Valerie has been added to the bone marrow registry to find a match to help her. As a result, Valerie has two potential matches. Though we are able to receive treatment here in our hometown, the transplant will require us to travel to another hospital for the procedure.
This procedure is not just serious, but very costly. We have gotten inquiries as to how Valerie can be helped. As we get ready to start another lane of this journey we are now asking for your help.
