Aubree's Angels - Radiation Therapy

Donation protected
A few weeks ago Amanda & Roscoe got the news which every parent prays they will never hear.
" Your daughter has a brain tumor”
Their world was immediately turned upside down.

Amanda & Roscoe are a just a normal, middle class family.  Roscoe works at a hospital and Amanda works for a local utility company.  They are parents of two beautiful little girls, three dogs, a cat and some chickens.  Unfortunately, no family can prepare for the mental, physical or financial struggles that a battle with a brain tumor can bring.

On July 6, 2016 a CAT scan revealed Aubree had a quail egg size tumor in her brain.  The tumor was pushing on her optic nerve and causing severe vision problems. She was diagnosed with childhood Craniopharyngioma, a rare tumor usually found near the pituitary gland. Brain surgery was schedule for the following week.

Sweet little Aubree celebrated her 5th birthday just two days before the surgery. It was discovered during surgery that the outer layer of the cystic tumor was very thick and stuck to her brain stem, hypothalamus and pituitary gland.  Removing it would have killed her.  The tumor was instead drained and left in place.  She is a very strong little girl and came out of the surgery like a champ.  Yet, her struggle has just begun. Aubree will immediately need 6 weeks of radiation therapy.

The closest hospital that provides this type of medical treatment is in Seattle, over three hours away.

Amanda & Roscoe would never ask for help, so we are asking for them.  Seattle is one of the most expensive cities in the U.S.  Lodging alone will be over $1,500 per week and meals, gas for traveling and misc. living expenses will quickly add up.  Amanda will need to take off work to be with Aubree in Seattle.

I know many of you that know and love Amanda & Roscoe’s family want to help in some way.  Sending a donation will be a great way to say “we are thinking of you”.  Please consider making a donation to the Ghering family. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

“What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like” (Augustine)
