Todd and Lori are two of the most generous individuals that you will ever meet. Whether it is through their work in advocating for children who don't have a voice, to spending years investing in youth through their church, to pouring out love to their grandchildren, they have shown love to countless. Many have a story that they could share of the impact that Todd and Lori have had. Many in the community have experienced their generosity firsthand. They give in a way that is unheralded and selfless.
3 weeks ago, Lori had surgery to remove a 4-5 pound fibroid in her uterus. During that surgery, surgeons discovered damage to her colon and a cancerous growth on her intestine. The damage to her colon was repaired and the growths were removed. Doctors were optimistic that she'd make a complete recovery with no chemotherapy or radiation needed.
A week into recovery, Lori experienced major abdominal pain again. She went to the doctor who performed additional scans. Doctors discovered that the colon repair had not been successful, which had caused a leak in the colon and a major infection throughout her abdomen. Lori was immediately rushed into emergency surgery. The leak was repaired, but the trauma of the infection has left her body in dire shape. Doctors told her that she may not have survived had she come in even a couple of hours later.
Lori is now facing a long recovery. She is currently still in the hospital fighting the infection which has severely damaged her body. She now has a colostomy bag which she will have for several months. She will require extensive care during her recovery. She is also facing another surgery in several months that will be needed to fully repair her colon. With each surgery and procedure, there is more fear, anxiety and stress that mounts.
We are asking those who care for Lori and Todd to help in any way they can. Hospital bills are mounting, and for those who can help, we ask that you would donate to help ease the burden they face. Lori has been through 2 surgeries already and will be facing another. She will require assistance from a home health aide and expensive medical equipment to recover from her infection. The cost is daunting, even with insurance, and we want their focus to be on Lori's recovery, not the medical bills they receive.
Even if you can't contribute financially, we ask that you continue to pray for Lori's healing. Many have been praying throughout all of this and God has protected and strengthened her. Please, continue praying. It makes a difference.
