As most you know, my mom has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer. Beginning in March, my mom endured various medical examinations and procedures by several different specialty Doctors in hopes of determining the cause of her illness, but to no avail. It wasn’t until she was admitted to the hospital via the Emergency Department in mid-June that Ovarian Cancer was discovered. Surgery was immediately scheduled for a full hysterectomy. Unfortunately, the Surgeon was unable to remove any cancer, opting instead for an aggressive chemotherapy regiment to shrink it with the expectation to perform surgery to remove any remaining cancer at a later date.
While my mom has shocked her medical team with the outstanding progress she has made on chemotherapy, it is likely that she will require at least one and more likely two more surgeries in addition to 5 – 6 months of continued, aggressive chemotherapy.
Needless to say, the medical bills are already beginning to accumulate. Being that my mom is self-employed as a hair dresser, Social Security will not pay disability benefits until 5 months of the disability have passed. I am sure you can imagine that the monetary cost of fighting this cancer is going to take a devastating toll on my family. My mom’s focus needs to be on eradicating this cancer from her body without the distraction of stressing about the cost of this fight. This is my motivation for asking you to help if you are able.
Alicia is an amazing mother, a loving daughter & sister, a cherished friend and hairdresser to many. She is described by her clients as not just someone who fixes $12.00 haircuts, but as a trusted confidant (who are we kidding – therapist insert smiley face), and a part of their families.
Please consider helping my mom in this battle against Ovarian Cancer by giving a donation. Your kindness, generosity, support and love is profoundly appreciated....
