Kathy Feltman, my best friend of 23 years, was told that she has full body cancer in July 2016. She worked up until the day she got sick. She had complained of back pain for several months yet continued to work because she needed to make ends meet. She finally went to the doctor and underwent many tests with the ultimate diagnosis of full body cancer. Her job did not provide and or offer insurance to their employees. Therefore, she has no insurance and no income what so ever. As we all know very well, even though the income stops coming in, the bills continue to build. Nicki is kathy's only daughter/child.  She works as a CNA in Munster, Indiana and has been taking care of her mom financially as much as she can as well as spending every single moment helping Kathy make it too all of her appointments. Kathy was approved for a medical card and has been going everyday to UIC for her cancer treatments and Ncki has been her only form of transportation. Therefore, Nicki has been driving too Munster, Indiana, back too Hegewisch to pick Kathy up, drive into the city to UIC for Kathy too recieve her treatment and then drive back home to Hegewisch. She is burning both sides of the candle and needs our help. Kathy raised Nicki as a single mother because Nicki's father passed away when Nicki was young. They created a bond between the two of them that is unbreakable. Nicki will walk through fire and back for her mother, but we all know that a person can only take so much. 
       Kathy has been very strong since her diagnosis and has been trying to do all that she can to help Nicki help her, but the stress of the finances is making her weaker by the day. I am asking on behalf of my best friend, her daughter and her loved ones that we can come together as a family and community too help these two out. We pray, that in our heart of hearts, we can help them both out as soon as possible. I will continue to post updates as they come. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for caring.
