Sheryl's catastrophic medical fund

Wow! I never saw this coming...My life has changed in a simple side swiping second.  My insurance company calls it catastrophic injuries.  I am still trying to grasp the severity of it all.

My name is Sheryl Eldredge.  I am a very unassuming biker.  People are always surprised when they find out I ride a Harley. I enjoy the freedom and the pleasure of open roads, good company  new destinations.  It's also a way to commute in LA traffic if you need to get somewhere.

In a nutshell, on July 27 I was commuting downtown at about 9 AM on the 405 freeway south near Valley Vista. Traffic was slow. I was riding in the carpool lane and occasionally splitting lanes  with Lane number one.  I am extremely cautious when splitting lanes. I hold back and I will tap my horn or headlights to let people know I'm coming through. This did not help in this instance as I was sideswiped by a car full of people which downed my bike. I was thrown onto the road and run over by a car.

i was rushed to UCLA Trauma Hospital with a multitude of injuries. The most prominent being a shattered tibia, a broken scapula and 8 broken ribs with 2 surgeries, 2 hospitals and a rehab stay to get stable.

I'm home now and the healing begins. The pain is so intense and draining. Doing my physical therapy is about all I can do. There is no way to even consider working. I can't even put any weight on the leg for 3 months. I have to be patient about my recovery.

Being laid up like this means I have no income coming in and no prospects. I don't know how I'm going to make my bills and extra medical expenses. I really need help to make sure we can keep our house.

On top of all that, the police report came back completely inaccurate. The only witnesses they questioned were the people who hit me. Of course, they said it was my fault. And they didn't even include my statement. It will be a battle to get that challenged.

It means so much to have the support of friends, family, fellow bikers and compassionate individuals. Any donation will be used with gratitude and responsibility to keep my house afloat. I'm told the stress of financial insecurity is not good for the healing process. I appreciate your consideration and contribution to my healing process.

Thank you you and God Bless.

Sheryl
