Hi, my name is Michael Basillas.I'm originally from California, but am currently residing in NYC to pursue my interests in activism and fashion design. On 8/10/2016 my apartment was robbed by an unknown individual, who possibly lived in my apartment complex.

The general story:
I came home around 2:30AM from Abolition Square #Shutdownnycityhall when the door was unlocked. I thought I must have forgotten to lock the door, discovering later on that this lock was completely comprised. I woke up around 12PM with the intention to go back to Abolition Square, when I suddenly noticed that my iPad mini was missing, which is always next to me on my bed, along with my friends Energizer Battery pack. Then, I noticed that my 3 pairs of RayBan glasses were also missing. I started panicking, realizing that someone came into my apartment and robbed me.

The following items were taken from my place:

iPad mini valued as $269 before taxes

iPhone 6 valued as $549 before taxes

Macbook (white one) valued now as $250-$300

Juki Serger Pearl MO-654DE (sewing machine for jersey fabric) valued as $369

3 pairs of RayBans sun-glasses valued as $160-$200 each

Doc Marten Boots
$1200 cash (that was intended to pay my rent)

$60 dollars (bed side drawer)
Energizer Battery Pack (belong to a friend Allegra)

My theory is that this person had stolen my stuff, with the exception of my iPhone. This must have been before I got home between Monday afternoon and Tuesday 2am, then they had decided to come back after 2:30am Tuesday to steal my iPhone 6, which was next to me, while I was sleeping naked in my own bed. I don't know what is worse, that someone broke my door and stole my belongings in my apartment or the fact this person had the nerve to come back and take my iPhone 6 while I was sleeping.

I don't have sentimental attachment to my personal belongings, but I'm bothered to feel unsafe in my own home.

WHY DO I NEED FUNDS?
I need your help to get my life back in order.
I will figure out how to replace my valuables along the way. Rent is my priority. I was going to pay my landlord $1200, but he negotiated to pay $950 in the next 2 weeks.

The plan is to raise that money and pay my rent, for everything else I can work my ass off.

I have apprehension asking for help. I feel this is not anyone else's problem, but I really need your help this time. I don't expect you to, but if you can that would be awesome. Anything can help. I would like to go back to my everyday life, my activism and designing, to forget this incident and rise above it.

THANK YOU:
For those who help to make this happen, thank you very much.
