On June 9th, after more than 6 months of chronic migraines without relief after trying several medications, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was really hard for me to hear those words after having cancer and surviving Hodgkin's Lymphoma when I was 17 years old. Now, at 39, and with 3 daughters, a brain tumor. Surgery was the only way to remove it. I had brain surgery on 7/13 at John Hopkins Hospital. Because the tumor was in the most delicate part of the left side of the brain, some disabilities occurred as a result of the surgery. After the surgery, my right side was not functional at all. I started intensive rehabilitation 4 hours every day for 17 days until I was discharged to home. Now, I am home and although I started to move with a walker and a cane, I still need rehabilitation. I also need attention/memory/speech/visual and occupational therapy, because I have some other problems I need to fix too. I need 4 therapies a week, 2 for occupational therapy and 2 for physical therapy, for a year. Every therapy is $35. I am not able to work for at least a year because of the surgery and the risk of seizures, and my husband was out of work without pay for more than a month. Between the surgery bills, doctors' bills, hospital bills and now the rehabilitation cost, we have much more expenses than we expected and that we can afford right now. I am asking for help at least for my therapies so that I can continue my rehabilitation and I can go back to be myself again. I will appreciate any help, and if you can't help, please pray for me. Prayers are powerful and appreciated beyond words can express!
