One year ago I ran my first triathlon. As I trained last year, I raised money for Refuge for Women. Over the course of the summer I have been training and praying as I made the decision to complete this triathlon again. At first, I didn’t know who to raise support for, a question that had been raised by a family member. I began to wrestle with this question and continued to pray about a clear answer. While training for a 10K, I audibly heard Jenna. Not knowing who Jenna was, I continued to pray and seek wisdom as to why I would need to run for Jenna. Just a few short days later, the answer was clear. A friend of mine posted about a dear friend of hers who was battling cancer for the fourth time. Then another friend and another posted again about sweet Jenna who was battling cancer.
I began to ask questions and speak with my friends about Jenna. I started following her on instagram, and reading her blog. Things I have learned about Jenna: this year she turned 30, she loves life, she loves her young life girls, she has some of the sweetest friends, a wonderful husband, a pretty kitty named waffles, and most of all she loves Jesus with all her heart. In reading her blogs and learning about her life one word that continues to be brought to mind is JOY. I personally haven’t had the privilege of meeting Jenna, but I know that her life radiates joy. I imagine that behind this word in the dictionary would read Jenna Henderson :)
After being placed on my heart, I decided that Jenna would be the reason I run. As both medical and non-medical expenses continue to build, I want your help to be an encouragement in her life. Four weeks remain until the triathlon on September 11th. In this time, I would love to raise as much support as we can to be a light to Jenna during this season. All money collected will be given directly to Jenna to help assist with any expenses needed.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and prayers for Jenna. We serve a good God, a big God, a God who is for us, and a God that loves us more than we can fathom. As I have continued to pray for Jenna I feel an overwhelming presence that God is with her. He loves her, is proud of her, and is going to win this fight with her! She is such a joy and light, and I know that His light will continue to shine ever so brightly in her life.
