Busa Bob's Medical Recovery
Hi fellow racers and friends,
This Is Rob Aston a fellow motorcycle rider and racer. I have been racing for the last several years with the CMDRA all over Western Canada, including MHDRA, Castrol Raceway and Mission Raceway to name a few.
In my Motorcycle racing/riding circle I have had the pleasure of meeting "Busa Bob" He rides the same kind of bike as mine so we had an instant connection.
The Motorcycle Drag Racing community is a small one and one of our own needs our help.
This last weekend, September 10th, in Medicine Hat, Alberta at the MHDRA track Bob was attending the end of the season event there.
Bob had made a few passes throughout the day and was lining up in an Elimination race. The pass went very well at first Bob looked like he was going to win but right at the finish line when you are going your fastest Bob went down very hard.
His well known "Spiderman Busa" is completely written off and Bob's leathers did not hold up very well.
His two sons, who were in attendance, were spared from seeing the worst of the accident. But they had to face the time in the hospital waiting for word from the doctors.
He was taken to the local hospital where he was treated and then transported by ambulance to Calgary.
Bob has suffered many broken bones, arm and ribs, along with some fairly severe road rash. He is in the hospital in Calgary now and they have him sedated for a couple of days to let the ribs heal.
They performed surgery on his broken arm today and tomorrow he faces the surgeons again in order to repair the damage to his palms. As I understand it there will be more surgery after this and he needs to rest and recover. The good news is that his injuries are not life threatening and the prognosis is good.
Bob is a single Dad, he does have family, and his kids are being taken care of. But they can only do so much
We are trying to help Bob out by raising some money to help pay the bills while he is recovering.
Just the ambulance alone bill is a big one. We are not asking for a lot, just whatever you can do to help him out.
We will need these funds as soon as possible so he doesn't fall to far behind while he is in the hospital.
This donation will mean a lot to Bob and his kids and we all thank you very much for your generosity during this rough time for Bob.
We are all wishing him the best and I will keep you posted on his condition over the next couple of weeks.
Thank you again.
