After weeks and weeks of prayer, we are finally doing it! Stephen and I have been day-dreaming about a world where more experienced Christians take an active role in the lives of today's youth. We don't just mean leaders who can simply speak scripture over students, but those who hug, relate, encourage and grieve with youth. We've been dreaming about a place where leaders and students can bond over things like music, art, games and service instead of the typical bible studies found in most churches. While there is nothing wrong with these traditional forms of fellowship (the Lord takes great delight in them!), we feel it is necessary to be more strategic to reach and relate to the youth of today. The ultimate goal is to create a youth group-like community fueled by relationship driven leaders without the negative connotations that can come along with the idea of "church" hindering students' involvement. Through these day-dreams, The Teshuwah Project was born. We found a perfect location in McKinney, Texas, but first, we need to raise money for the application fee for Teshuwah to be under the umbrella of United Charitable Programs (unitedcharitableprograms.org). Along with the application fee, we are asking for help funding an industrial dress form for Teshuwah. The main funding for the project will come from furniture, apparel, and craft items handmade by the two of us. The dress form will help in the creation of new designs to sell. With your help, we can get the ball rolling on this exciting endeavor!
