Brody is 19 years. He came down with a cold, and after 2 weeks was struggling to breath. Brody smartly took himself to Moosomin hospital. They thought he had pneumonia, but thought they'd send him to Regina for more testing as things didn't seem right Within one day, Brody required to be intubated and sedated. Many tests later he was diagnosed with a very rare autoimmune disease called Goodpasture syndrome. Brody is one in 4 million with his presentation of this disease. This disease is where Brody's body is attacking itself. It affects his lungs and kidneys. His treatment is plasmapheresis and chemo therapy. Brody will be in hospital for at least one month, and has been intubated for a week now. He has a long road ahead of him. The news is that it could be up to a year or more for treatments and longer for recovery. Brody lives in rural Saskatchewan. His parents live hours away, traveling back and forth and staying in Regina. Most of his relatives travel long distances to see him. His brothers and sisters have been staying with family and friends so his parents can be with him during this time. Each have taken time off work, and harvest and farm work have been put on hold. Brody was working in maintenance work and future plans of taking welding in college this Sept has been put on hold. Though all this, Brody has remain optimistic. His humour remains, and his love of football music and family has helped get him though so far. There's a long road ahead of Brody, but his personality will help get him through! Please help support Brody and his family with the expenses they will have over the next few months.
