Lost All In The Tokawanna Fire
On July 28, 2016 our precious family cabin and land, "Maranatha", was completely destroyed in the devastating Tokawanna Fire, in Wyoming. This sacred land has touched countless lives through the years. The memories are too numerous to count. Our hearts are aching as we realize the reaching effects of mother nature's fury.
Just over 45 years ago, the first diesel truck full of logs was delivered to Dick and Lanora Grondel, in the Tokewanna Estates, Robertson, Wyo. in the Unitas. Hundreds of logs were peeled, one at a time, with draw knives and initials carved. Years of painstaking labor and love went into building the magnificent cabin that came to be known as "Maranatha". This legacy was built completely by Dick & Lanora Grondel, Kevin & Robin Grondel Beck and their children, Cheston Beck, Amanda Beck Hurd, Miranda BeckYeaman, Mitchell Beck and Kaliegh Beck Walter.
There have been so many others who have unselfishly donated so much their time and love.
Because Maranatha was under construction and had not been completed, insurance was not available.
Dick and Lanora lived their summer retirement here. Because of the immediate evacuation, all of their personal belongings have also been burned. Even wallet and purse.
I am Robin Grondel Beck, Dick and Lanora's daughter. I have been chosen to be the one in charge of the funds. I live in Layton, Ut. a few miles from Mom and Dad's home. I am in constant touch with them and we have come to the conclusion that this will take a very long time to get cleaned up. Especially when we have no place to stay when we get there to work. So we are trying to find a small inexpensive camping trailer. Mom and Dad have final say in the way the funds will be used but I will be the one with access.
We, as a family, would like to to thank everyone for all of the love, caring and support we have been given. We are grateful for each of you and GoFundMe, to help with the massive effort it will take to clean up and haul away the rubble of our beautiful Maranatha and begin to create a new legacy of joy.
