This is Winnie — my three-year-old French Bulldog, my little shadow, and my absolute world. She’s recently been diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), a serious spinal condition that’s left her in pain and in need of urgent surgery.

Right now, she’s being cared for by a specialist vet who’s keeping her comfortable, and is having her surgery today to give the best chance of recovery. The cost for her treatment has now been confirmed at £7,500.

Unfortunately, her insurance won’t cover it — partly because she had a mild tremor on her file last year (which they’ve now decided could be linked), and partly because there was a short lapse in her cover. It’s a horrible situation to be in, and I feel awful for letting that happen.

Winnie has been my little rock through some difficult times, and now I just want to be able to do the same for her. She’s the most loving, funny, stubborn little girl and she deserves the chance to get better and live the happy, full life she’s meant to have.
