I'm starting this GO FUND ME for Jackie Roach who is a dear friend, travel companion, confidant and like a sister to me. She is a breast cancer survivor and has been in remission for many years.
As many of you know, Jackie has been experiencing severe back pain the past couple of years and was recently hospitalized for emergency surgery when a mass was discovered in her lower spine. During surgery, a steel rod was placed in her back due to a spinal fracture and doctors found that Jackie has multiple myeloma in the form of several tumors along her spinal cord. It is a type of cancer in the bone marrow and it causes the bone structure to weaken. It also is the cause of the tumors. Treatment will require radiation to reduce the tumors and chemotherapy to attack the cancer.
The out-of-pocket fees of treatment alone will be approximately $7000.
