About two weeks ago my friend found three dogs dumped on a highway while she was working. She picked them up and tried to locate their humans. After an extensive search, it was discovered that the dogs had been left with a family member when their owner had to relocate for work. When confronted about dumping the dogs, the person was abusive and threatening - and in spite of all the neighbours reporting that she was their new owner, she denied they belonged to her.
'Blonde Dog' - now nicknamed Daisy
'Black Dog' (nicknamed Zoe) loves to cuddle!
Shelters in the area are telling us they are full and they will not take the dogs. One of the pups (Black Dog - Zoe) is in rough shape, and today we took her to a vet to see if we could afford to help her. The estimate for her immediate care is posted in one of the pictures here.
The estimate to treat Black Dog's urgent care items.
Just the critical care she needs right away is almost $800 minimum and it's certain to get higher. Once she has the xrays for her hips we will then know how much more it will cost to treat her, but right now that's our starting point. We've not yet had the other two dogs examined by the vet because we simply don't have the money.
'Brown Dog' (aka Tri-pod because he's missing a leg)
We are hoping to raise enough money to cover the vet bills for these three rescues. We will house and feed them, and find them good homes ourselves since the local shelters have refused to help us, but we can't afford the treatment that the one dog needs and we don't even know yet what the other two will need. We will ensure they are spayed and neutered.
These dogs are loveable, already devoted to the people caring for them, and utterly alone in the world. The person trusted to care for them has abandoned them and refused to take responsibility for them or their injuries. Any and all help, even the smallest amount, would be put directly toward vet bills to get these three healthy again.
Thank you so much if you've read this far, and for thinking about helping us help these pups.
