My name is Ashley Lipscomb and I am raising money to send 10 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS on a college tour. When I was in high school the NAACP would sponsor a HBCU college tour. This tour inspired me, and is the reason I received a B. A and M.T from Hampton University. I am currently an educator and I understand the importance of a college education. Unfortunately, they no longer sponsor this college tour.
Last September, after speaking to two high school seniors in September who wanted to go to college but didn't know which school they wanted to attend, I knew something had to be done. Therefore, the Legacy Lives HBCU College Tour was created. Six students were able to attend three colleges: Howard University, Delaware State University, and Morgan State University. Two of the seniors were accepted to Morgan State University as a result of the tour. All three of the seniors that attended the tour are currently in college and recieved a book scholarship of $350 from our fundraiser!
Due to the success of the tour the request for another tour is in high demand. This year there will be 10 high school students, both boys and girls, who have never experienced this type of exposure.
The tour takes place during the NJ teacher's convention weekend, November 10-11 2016. We will be touring four colleges and universities: Norfolk State University, Hampton University, Lincoln University, and Cheyney University. We have about a TWO WEEKS to raise the funds necessary to make this tour happen.
Your donation to our cause would mean the world to me and the students who will enjoy this experience. Your donation will afford an opportunity for students who in other circumstances, have, and will, be overlooked. Your donation will inspire a future generation to achieve goals that they didn't even know existed for them. Thank you in advance for your donation!
Sincerely,
Ashley Lipscomb
