Many of you know that our dad, Steve, has been battling lung cancer for almost a year now. He has gone through intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments and has been hospitalized numerous times because of complications. He has put up such a hard fight and he kicked cancer's ass. Unfortunately, his lungs are so weak that he is now going through respiratory failure. On Friday, July 25th, he was admitted into the hospital and placed into the critical care unit.

Earlier this week, as a family, we made the hard decision to choose hospice over fighting any longer. The decision wasn’t easy, but our dad is still of sound mind and can make decisions for himself regarding his care. We wanted to make sure he would have the time and mental ability to say goodbye to loved ones and be comfortable until God calls him home.

When the time comes, and we have to say goodbye, our dad has chosen to be cremated. He unfortunately does not have life insurance or savings, so we are reaching out to our friends, family, and communities to ask for help before these expenses arise so we can plan accordingly.

A month ago, our parents made the decision to move in with Bree and her family so she could help care for not only our dad but our mom, who is living with dementia. Once our dad passes, our mom, Judy, will continue to live with Bree, but we are also worried about financial responsibilities regarding her care going forward.

We want to thank you in advance for any kind of help any of you can provide. Our dad is the center of our worlds. He’s the one who taught us what true love and family is. As we navigate this hard time, please pray for comfort, strength, and peace.

If you do not feel comfortable using the GoFundMe platform, please feel free to reach out to any one of us.

Love,
Jorie, Bree, & Bryce
