Michael Mueller was in a serious motorcycle accident on June 3rd, 2016. He suffered several skull fractures and underwent several craniotomy procedures to remove damaged brain tissues and sections of of his skull to relieve the bleeding and pressure.
Doctors the first day after the accident were not sure he would survive. He spent several weeks in a medically induced coma and a full ventilator, before he was slowly weaned and returned to a conscious state.
He was moved to nursing home facility in central Ohio to be weaned from the breathing tubes and to begin physical and speech therapy. He's been successfully weaned, and has been very active lately, although his balance is not the greatest.
This Thursday he will be moved back to Aultman for a surgery to replace the missing pieces of skull. After a few days there, he should be transferred to the Cleveland VA for more intensive brain trauma rehabilitation.
In preparation for his eventual return home, some updates and construction need to be done to his home, most importantly an update on the staircase leading to the second floor. In addition, the front porch, where Michael enjoys spending time, needs a floor replacement.
I've gotten an estimate from a very reliable and reasonable contractor I've worked with for many years, who happens to have time available to do the work.
The total for the work is about $3,000. Any funds raised in addition will go towards any unpaid medical and legal expenses, and to help the family with food and expenses.
Deneen is one of the kindest, most generous people that I have ever met. This is our chance to return that generosity of spirit to her and Michael during this challenging time.
With much thanks - Tamara Mitchell
