Help Me Finish My PhD!

Hi, I'm Adreanna Nattiel. For the past 6 years, I've been working on completing my PhD in Women's Studies at the University of Maryland. My dissertation, Carnal Knowledge: Black Women, Moral Panics & Sex Ed Legislation, explores the impact of reproductive rights legislation on Black women's lives. This project was deeply meaningful to me because it gave me the opportunity to analyze and participate in Black women’s cultural and intellectual production and connect these important histories to our present political moment.

After several years of hard work, I completed my dissertation and was given permission to schedule my defense this past May. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, my defense was canceled an hour before it was scheduled to begin. This decision was not only shocking, humiliating and devastating, but it also meant that I was no longer employed by UMD and therefore no longer able to receive funding that would allow me to complete my dissertation and my degree.

I'm asking for your help to cover this unexpected cost of my tuition and fees for this semester so that I can complete these revisions by the end of the semester, reschedule my defense, and graduate this December.
