Jim's Journey through Cancer
Anyone who knows Jim and Kim Black, knows they are great people who love to have a good time and would help anyone at any chance they were given. Now, they need our help!
This year has been pretty brutal for Jim and Kim. Things first started to get rough when Kim lost her job of 10 years after her position was cut on April 22, 2016. Just as they were reeling in that news, Jim also lost his job when his position was also cut on June 7, 2016.
As if things weren't hard enough by that point, just two weeks later they received news every family dreads. Jim was diagnosed with Stage III Metatstatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma in the oropharyngeal region.
Jim's prognosis is good but traditional treatment could leave him with a feeding tube or speech impairments. They explored the option of Proton Therapy at MD Anderson in Houston. Jim was accepted in the trial and will receive his treatment there, which is expected to have much less serious, long term side effects and better overall prognosis.
They have also lost their health insurance and are facing very high Cobra premiums. Jim and Kim will no longer be able to afford to stay in their current home in Memphis TN, as they cannot afford it financially. They will be leaving their home soon to head to Houston to fight for Jim's health and to hopefully reestablish themselves.
No one wants to ask for help but they need our help! Even the smallest donation can help make things a little easier for them during these hard times.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
