Hello,
My name is Jabari Jones and I’m from Detroit, MI. I’m currently a senior at Morehouse College, located in Atlanta, GA majoring in English. I created this GoFundMe in an attempt to receive financial aid so that I can finish my education and complete my bachelor degree. However, before you make a donation please allow me to give you more information to why I need your financial support.
I am the second generation of my family to attend college and the oldest child of four (2 brothers and 1 sister). My mother is a single parent and has supported me in every endeavor I have embarked on. However, my mother has reached her financial limit and can't afford to help me with this LAST YEAR. If you know anything about Morehouse College, it is a great school but costs an arm and a leg to pay for. Tuition is $28K a year; however, the grand total to attend/live/ and eat at the illustrious Morehouse College is $47,000. I personally do not have the funds and neither does my family or my mother. I have exhausted my connections in the financial aid office and manage to be $17,000 short. I am asking to raise $10,000 and I will personally take out a $7,000 loan just so I can graduate. Various companies that I have interned with and or applied to are willing to offer me a full-time position; however, only after I graduate. This is why graduating is so important to me.
When it comes to what type of person I am on campus, I am very involved on campus and always willing to help others. I have helped with not only the creation of events, forums, RA programs, and New Student Orientation; I have also served as a mentor to individuals on campus who needed guidance. I am a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., (Chi Chapter) and through my organization, I have volunteered by helping many families through community service projects. I have fed and provided hygiene products to the homeless, tutored kids from elementary/middle school, and help with the renewal of the local community centers.
