My Dad passed away this past Friday July 29th at the young age of 64. He was a loving and caring father,grandfather,husband, brother, son, and friend. Family and friends were always very important to him. He was a great man that loved the Lord and all his creation. He was an active member and a deacon of his Church.
Unfortunately he has been battling sickness and fighting diabetes for the past five years ultimately causing him to lose a leg and most of his fingers. This condition forced him and my mother sever financial hardship.
Living off social security and my mother's part time job caused them to lose just about everything they worked so hard for during their lifetime up to and including their house.
Although he was sick he never let it show on the outside or let it reflect in how he always treated people with compassion. He had a huge heart and loved helping people in any and all ways he could.
Unfortunately he never planned much to prepare for a sudden unpredictable end.
Dad had no life insurance, savings or any investments going into his final day.
My mother, brother and I just sat down with the funeral director and were quite surprised to see the costs. We trimmed it down as much as we could, leaving just what little is absolutely necessary for my Dad, a great man, to be put to rest honorably and with dignity.
