I've known Lisa for the past 5 years, she has been like a second mom to me over those years and we've become extremely close. She is in love with her children and every last one of her kids friends whom also call her mom and who she selflessly welcomes into her home. last July Lisa she was diagnosed with having diverticulitis, after 3 months of treatment with antibiotics she wasn't getting any better in fact she was getting worse. She went from 155lbs to 115lbs very quickly. The pain was so excruciating she told her husband she would rather die than suffer one more day in pain, so shortly thereafter her husband, Dana, took her to the Emergency room to get checked out. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where she stayed for 2 weeks because of the condition she was in ...Severe malnutrition. While at the hospital they did a C scan on her abdomen because of her diverticulitis. As it turned out the technician scanned too high during and saw something worrisome on her lower lung, so they did another C scan but this time just on her lungs. Tragically the diagnosis was stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer, which is incurable. The news was devastating and heartbreaking for everyone. After surgery on her intestines for the diverticulitis and 2 more weeks recovery in the hospital she was released. Lisa immediately began her chemo therapy treatment, the chemo is supposed to keep the cancer from growing too fast and give her more time on this earth. In the midst of all of this, she ended up going back to the hospital 2 more times for arthritis. The lung cancer had given her arthritis in 12 of her joints....more pain. Although Lisa has insurance, thank God (the 28 day hospital stay was over $250,000.00) so she had her portion of financial responsibility. The bills keep coming with all her doctor visits, C scans, blood work, medication, etc...She is on disability now and the monthly medical costs pretty much eat it up. Lisa doesn't need to live her last days worrying about bills or how she will afford to pay for her present and future doctor visits and/or procedures, so let's all help Lisa. She should be as comfortable as possible and enjoying time with her family. Please keep Lisa in your prayers, and by hearing her story if you feel led to donate any amount I know Lisa and her family would greatly appreciate it.
