Our precious Joshua Nahome Newsom went home to be with his beloved Jesus on September 13, 2019. In a full circle, through this tragedy, we want to honor his memory and provide opportunities for his Ethiopian birth family. God clearly gave Amy and Joel a vision of returning Josh to his Ethiopian family along with the funds to provide a stable home and education for his three siblings there. Joshua was a blessed gift to the Newsom Family and in lieu of flowers, they humbly request donating to this fund in order to shine the light of the Lord back to his family of origin.
Josh’s birth mother, Tigist, selflessly and sacrificially relinquished Josh to be adopted in the USA over 10 years ago, in order to give him a better life which she could not give him in Ethiopia due to poverty and circumstances beyond her control. Ethiopia is in the throes of extreme deprivation and in their area, children attend school only if they can afford to pay for the school, uniforms and other materials. Joshua has three young Ethiopian siblings, Tigilu (brother, age 6), Bety (sister, age 4), Nardo (sister, age 2). Team Newsom would like to provide long term educational funding for his Ethiopian siblings to help ensure they have a bright future.
The Newsoms praise the Lord in the midst of grief and are so humbled and thankful for the 10 blessed years they had with Joshua. Joshua truly brought light and love into their family and they are extremely bereft at his loss. Any benefit will be directed to the good of the family, honoring Joshua, and reaching back, in love, to the family that gave him life.
