Tassone Family Support

In the photo is the most inspirational person you will ever meet. My mother, Mary Ann  Tassone, was born with Cystic Fibrosis. A progressive disease that affects the pancreas and lungs. In 2007, she received a second chance at life with a double lung transplant. The transplant, yet successful, has brought its challenges. In 2009, my mom continued her fight but this time with Colon Cancer. Later, in the most recent two years she would hear the news she would now have to fight for a kidney. Currently on the transplant list to receive this kidney, she began dialysis. At first the normal schedule of 3 days a week was enough. At  just 77 pounds, the extra fluid began to pour into her chest cavity causing extreme difficulty breathing increasing her 3 days a week dialysis to turn into 4-5. She has been admitted to the ICU a total of 18 times since February of this year. Eventually this continued strain would cause her to suffer a Heart Attack on July 27, 2016 and then go on to be diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and severe Angina causing tremodous, constant pain. She has fought all of her life along side an unbelievably supportive husband who is with her every step of the way. My father, Larry Tassone, is currently self employed as an upholsterer and is spending most of his time in Presbyterian Hospital in downtown Pittsburgh, neglecting his work to lift my mothers spirits and be her advocate for when she is unable to speak for herself. My mother is no longer stable, and stays in the ICU fighting a mitral valve that needs repaired desperately to save her life. The problem now, is the chances of her ever being stable enough to withstand the surgery are slim to none, as are the chances of her even surviving the surgery if it ever could be done. My father can no longer dedicate much time to work, if any, as he is constantly by her side down at Presby. As you can imagine after 18 hospital stays within 6 months, they have multiple bills piling up. We currently live an hour away from the hospital and gas, parking, and other expenses are piling up quickly. My father is the only employee for his business. Him, being the incredible, selfless, dedicated husband that he has always been understands that being by her side as she fights for what will most likely be her last fight on this earth is the most important thing in the world. As long as he is down there, he has zero income. He has always been proud of his ability to provide for his family whether it be financially or emotionally and has made endless sacrifices in doing so. Please help give him the support that he has so humbly and selflessly given to both my mother and I as long as he has been in our lives. Through out all of the stress of watching his wife fade from the beautiful, healthy woman he married in the 1980's to the still beautiful, but now weak and tired woman she is now, they desperately need a break. Please, help my father in anyway possible, so he can be with his wife to  hold her hand as she fights to hold on as long as she possibly can. All donations are appreciated more than you can ever imagine and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. God Bless you all, and please send your prayers my mother and father's way.
