Help with Jenny's Medical Expenses

Friends and Family...

A very dear friend of ours was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer and has received 8 rounds of chemo and will begin radiation shortly.

Jenny began getting mammograms at age 40.  She had the first one, with no real issues. It showed dense breast tissue, but no lumps.   She did show 2 calcification's on left side.  Her Dr. recommended another mammogram in  6 more months to establish a base.  Jenny repeated the second mammogram 6 months later and it looked the same.

This past February, Jenny went to have another mammogram at the age of 41.  This time her mammogram showed multiple calcification's.  One week later, she had a biopsy and within a couple days the biopsy showed precancerous calcification's, plus benign calcification's with small cancerous tumor underneath.  Two weeks later Jenny had a surgery to remove calcification's and tumor (16 lymph-nodes were removed from the left armpit 1 lymph-node showed cancer).  At that time, Jenny was Diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer because the cancer moved past the milk ducts.

The third week of March, Jenny met with her Dr. from the Cancer Center at the University of Iowa.  She began 8 rounds (one every two weeks) of chemotherapy.  With using two chemo drugs during the first 4 sessions and 1 chemo drug the following 4 treatments.  She finished Chemo treatments on June 30th

Jenny has taken a couple weeks off to let her body heal and will begin 33 radiation treatments the 3rd week of July.  She will also undergo genetic counseling and testing to help with some future decisions.  Finally, she will begin hormone therapy in August and will continue Tamoxifen for approximately, 5 more years.

We know their family has been very appreciative of all the prayers, meals, rides to appointments and help with the kids. But as we all know, medical bills can be daunting to any family. Their lives have been derailed enough, and our hope is that we, as friends and family, can contribute and make their lives a little easier during this time.

And please, always remember, the importance of getting a mammogram.

Thank you in advance!
