On Friday, July 22, 2016 a fire started at Soberanes Park, Big Sur, CA. My family was evacuated from our Palo Colorado home. Many reported our whole mountain side was in flames. Soon we heard of other homes in our area that burnt and the first report said our home was gone. Three days later, we heard that our neighbors were able to save our structure. We are one of the lucky ones to have a home to continue life in thanks to the chain saw angels, Aaron and Brian Patch. 19 homes were burnt just on our mountain side alone. We haven't been able to go back to our house and the Soberanes fire is still burning as of this writing. It is estimated that the fire will not be contained until around August 31rst. Today is day 8 since the fire started and it has burnt 33,000 acres and destroyed 52 homes. Due to smoke and burn damage as well as no utilities we will not be able to return home for long time. We haven't been able to go back and see the extent of the damage. We will need to find temporary housing until our home is livable again and are able to repair the damage. It may take some months to get back on our feet again. We appreciate everybody's generosity and help. We love you all. Blessings
