Holly is a 68 year old long time Westpark resident who has recently fallen on hard times. Holly lost her job and stopped being able to afford the rent to her apartment of which she’d been at for the last 15 years with her two pets pictured above. Holly was evicted and put out on the curb with everything she had. She didn’t want to lose her things to the rummagers so she made the decision to stay outside with it all. Neighbors started noticing and couldn’t stand watch this unfold anymore so they all came together, got a storage unit for her things, found temporary shelter for her pets, took her to the hospital to get treated, and successfully moved all of her things off the curb in under 4 hours on a Saturday night. With donations from people while she was sleeping on the couch that night, to the amazing neighbors of Westpark, we have collected a little money to pay off her storage through December, but she’s not quite out of the woods yet. Holly has been in contact with someone from the department of aging who will hopefully help get her into temporary shelter, but there are factors to that like wait listing, availability, income, etc. Holly will likely need to stay at a motel for a bit until it is figured out. Holly will likely need food, a few outfits, and hygiene products, as most of her stuff was ruined on the curb. Any donations will cover the cost of the motel, and any living necessities she may need for the time being.
