My Dad's Home Health Care Needs

Donation protected

Thank you for clicking in... as some of you may know, our family was rocked by tragedy on Christmas day of last year. Our loving and devoted mother, Edie, passed away unexpectedly. We were devastated, but no one more than our father, Ed. They were married for almost 59 years, but together for more than 60 years... they were unseperable!
Since then, dad has been the model of a person, who faced with this potential saddness and heartbreak, has successfully worked through all of the stages of grief... until March 26th. (*I appologize for waiting so long to release this information, but it was at his specific request).
On the morning of Saturday, March 26th, dad was not feeling well. He had previously gone to urgent care, but still didnt feel any better, so he attempted to self-catheterize, with horrible results. He spent the following 21 days at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Tucson. It was determined that dad was suffering from accute Renal failure, pneumonia and COPD, and would spend the next few years (possibly the rest of his life) on hemo-dialysis, and he would need months of physical rehabilitation. He went to two other facilities: a step-down, Kindred hospital, then HealthSouth for rehab, and has made tremendous improvement!
He was sent home for continuing care from Bayada Home Health Care... BUT, that home care is temporary, as paid through his insurance and Medicare. The continuing services he requires in the very near future, costing nearly $295 a month (out-of-pocket), exceeds his income from Social Security, and will soon become a financial burden. We have reached out to various agencies in the state, city and county, but again... these additional services will eventually deplete his savings, leaving us to cutting out much needed services.
We are hoping to reach a goal of $3500, to give him a buffer (about one year), and allow me a chance to save more of my own money to help out in the near future.  Our family is helping out as well, but your contributions will make his experience more bearable and less stressful.
As many who know me, know I love my father dearly and would do anything for him, and we wish him to stay at home for his care, and he, himself, is desperately trying to get stronger and become more mobile. The money we hope to raise will be used to cover the private home health providers: registered nurse, physical therapist and occupational therapist. They have indicated that he needs ongoing care to build up his stamina and strength, but insurance does not cover this care after the allowed interval, so we are putting our faith in humanity, and the desire to always do the right thing, and now, we're looking into GoFundMe.
Your generous contribution will be most gratefully appreciated! Thank You for anything you can offer.
