My wonderful wife Lashyra has been batteling severe depression for 18 years now.  She was diagnosed with Severe Refractive Resurgent Depression, which means a depression level near the top of the severity scale,  it means it comes and goes at will, can last hours, days, weeks or even months.  With the help of family, doctors and medications, she's able to fend it off and fight the good fight most of the time but about 2-3 times a year she's not able to fight the good fight and for her safety, she's hopitalized.  During these times and also attempts to keep her out of the hospital and to help break the hold it has, she needs to have ECT (Shock Treatment).

Because of her illness, she's no longer able to use her Master's Degree and is no longer able to work, we will never be able to have children or have the type of life experiences married couples typically dream of.

Between my pay check and her Social Security Disability Check, we're barely able to keep the bills paid and mortgage paid.  But when she's sick, those hospital bills and ECT bills can be very large.  This year so far from Jan - May she's had to have  more than 15 ECT treatments, which also affect her memory.  She has no memory of our wedding for example.

Besides the hospital bills, two drugs she's on are $435 and $225 AFTER Insurance each MONTH.  Her other meds are $390 every 3 months.  We spend on avg. $700 a month on medications.

We currently owe the University of Virginia Hospital $3500 and Martha Jefferson Hospital $2000.

I've sold about everything I can, we've cut out just about everything we can; eating out, movies, Netflix, etc.  We never take vacations or days off.

I'm a prideful person and would never ask for a hand out but I'm worried now, any more bills and we're in real trouble.  So I've decided to see if there is anyone out there that can help us.  Any amount helps and every single dime would go to her bills.

I love my wife very much and I know how sad she feels about how her illness affects us, our friends and family and how we can never have children or do all the things we dreamed married couples could do.

Thank you so much for just taking the time to read our story,

Ron
