Hello My Name is Trevor Owens. This account is dedicated to my mother and father and their desperate need to pay for medical bills. If you have ever known them or were touched by them please consider donating to help our family in this time.
As many of you know my mother Linda Kaye "Kaye-Kaye" Owens has had Colon Cancer for a little more than a year now. Among many health complications she has been steadily deteriorating for the past few months. This culminated last month when she was admitted to the hospital for severe back pain.
Last month she had severe pain in her back and went in to the hospital. When they started running the test they found she not only had a bulging disc in her back but that the cancer may have also spread to her too. Mom made a very courageous decision at that time to go into Hospice care.
Although my mother has a strong heart she has many complications that will keep her from getting any better. The Surgeons will not risk a surgery due to other health conditions which have high percentage of complications. It was her choice to try to live out her time in comfort and Hospice was the answer. No more tests which won't help. No more new programs or Chemo. No more CAT, PET, or x-ray scans. No more talk of surgery which may not give her any more time and will likely make it harder to handle. She just wants to be comfortable and happy for the time she has left.
And that's what we want for her. It is incredibly hard to lose a loved one this way. Especially someone like my mother. She was always the first to hold the babies at church -or anywhere really-. In the store, in the park, in a parking lot, if she saw one she had to see it. That made for some strange encounters as her kids but that was mom. We call her "the baby magnet" or "the baby whisperer". She has a way of caring for people that is so deep and true that it comforts everyone. I believe babies can see truth and in her, a true caring and loving heart and that's why they love her sooo much. My mother didn't just have 2 kids (my brother and I) but hundreds of thousands which she deeply cared for.
Since that stay in the hospital she has had a very serrious complication. After a week or two has managed to bounce back a bit. She has a strong heart. Where before mom was able to take care of herself during the day she now can not. The pain meds keep her comfortable but she is only lucid for a few moments before she is incommunicable. She recognizes us but can't hold a conversation anymore. Her stats started out very low. She can not move out of bed and cannot turn over by herself anymore. That's why she needs 24 hr. care and why she is now resting in an intermediate care facility in Wilsonville Oregon, just down the road from us.
If you are one of those babies or kids or persons whose life she has touched please consider donating to this fund. The intent is to get enough money to pay for her recent medical bills including her Hospital stay, transportation to and from the hospital via ambulance or service, medicines, oxygen, and now an intermediate care facility.
As soon as Medicaid is granted these costs will be covered but at this time they are not. That is putting a massive strain on our family. The facility she is in costs approximately $10K a month plus the first month payment.
The money raised here will go towards my mother’s medical and burial costs when that time comes. Any money raised above those needs will be put into a trust of some sort for her only granddaughter Bianca. I do not want it. My brother does not want it. My father does not want it. We just want to be sure we can take care of my mom.
The only reason for the trust is that IF there is any money left over we want to honor anyone who is giving money by saving it for the thing she values most in this world, Bianca. The bond the two of them share is nothing short of amazing to me and one that I will likely never reach with her myself. Mom always wanted to be sure Bianca went to school and that will be the intent of this trust.

Thank you for all the prayers and food and time you have been helping with thus far. Many folks from our local church have stopped by while mom was at home or helped by watching her so my dad could get a few hours sleep. I am deeply grateful for your support and concern.
