During the Revelstoke Race on the September Long-Weekend, a fellow rider and more importantly, took an unexpected and random crash on Stage 4.
The injuries sustained were: Traumatic Brain Injury (with left temporal area hemmorage, 4 broken ribs (one in multiple spots) and a severe injury to his right hand.
The rider was Mike Acton.
Mike Acton has been a part of the BC Enduro Series pretty much since the beginning!
I got to know Mike quite well this year during the Trans BC 6-day Enduro. He selflessly volunteered as a part of the Medical team, taking care of riders and helping in any way shape or form. The day before the event, his personality (genuine, kind and selfless) shined through when he volunteered to take all the riders out to his local trails.
Mike has a young girl and a loving wife and he unfortunately is facing some large medical bills and loss of wage during this time.
Mike isn't the kind of guy to put his hand out, it's not because of his ego or pride, rather, I'm sure, like all of us, he'd rather we spent the money on bike parts or having a good time skidding down some new trails.
So, I'm reaching out to our great riding community for Mike, so that he will be able to get the best treatments possible and to be back on his bike faster, stronger and more importantly, sooner!
No one likes to be injured, and it does happen, so if you can spare the price of a tube, a bottle of chain lube or even a tire, and put it towards helping Mike with his medical bills and loss of wage, I'd be so grateful and I know Mike will be ecstatic!
