Supporting Turbary Woods BOP Sanctuary

***UpDate*** 18 June STILL CLOSED ☹️: Overwhelmed is an understatement at the generosity of the people that have donated to this page so far Thankyou can not be said enough!! Visitors are phoning daily to check when we will be open now it’s heading towards the end of lockdown. Unfortunately, since the pandemic; the garden centre next to where we are located has decided not to re open the shop which was our only access route and has denied allowing our visitors to park on their car park. Fortunately, our landlords (John, Paul & Richard Kenworthy) who own land at the back of the woodland have offered to help as much as they can, but because we are a registered Zoo we have to keep to certain rules and new adequate car parking facilities need to built along with a toilet block and washing facilities inc for disabled use. We have cleared away an old entrance through the woodland and uncovered old paths but they need to be covered in tarmac for safety purposes and having finally finished building the new Steppe Eagle Enclosure (see previous posts) it has left our ‘pot of funds’ very low. We (The Volunteers) have been allowed to open the Sanctuary for small private groups in the meantime to help raise funds. (Again previous post re Falconer for a Day). Our volunteers are spending every spare minute they have still cleaning, gardening, painting, feeding and flying the birds but the amount of work that is required by the builders means we will not be re-opening for a while yet. We will of course be constantly keeping you up to date on our Facebook page. I’m sorry to push the donation request but every penny - however small is helping getting us back up and running for families to enjoy once again as the number one visitor attraction in Preston and towards the top in Lancashire.
