Rescued Horses from Havasupai

Donation protected

Family and friends, most of you are aware of the recent trip Katie and I took to Havasupai Falls. What resulted was a life altering experience in which we were exposed to some of the worst animal suffering we’d ever personally witnessed. It’s been a daily goal of ours ever since, to spread awareness and advocate for the numerous pack horses being abused and neglected in Supai, and to support efforts to rescue those in the most perilous conditions.

One horse in particular became very special to us along this journey. We are not at liberty to discuss specifics, but we are elated to report that he has recently been surrendered, along with several other Supai horses, thanks to the hard work and dedication of a group of women committed to stopping this abuse, and one woman specifically who has selflessly and bravely assisted in these rescues. She will remain anonymous here but she deserves to be acknowledged all the same.

This very special horse of “ours” pictured above after his rescue, will be re-homed in the very near future at our favorite sanctuary, Sunrise Horse Rescue . We are asking our friends, family and others who may be so inclined, to please help us raise funds for his transport and continuing care for him at his new forever home.

Additionally, we would like to provide some much needed financial support to the Coconino Humane Association as they are currently caring for several other Supai horses in need of treatment and rehabilitation, as well as to the SAVE Foundation , so that they can continue with their campaign to spread awareness and also provide much needed resources for the horses that remain in the village.  These resources would include things such as water trough installations, regular food and water deliveries, and shade shelters being built.

Those of you who know us well, know how much this experience has meant to us. We have not stopped fighting morning, noon and night for these animals since the very day we walked out of the canyon.  Although we have a long way to go, progress is being made. We thank you, with sincere and deep gratitude, for anything you’d be willing to donate.  No donation is too small.
