On Wednesday July 20th, two year old Riley Stone was playing outside with her cousins and was bit by a rattlesnake twice on her leg. She was unresponsive upon arriving to the ER and was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center where she underwent multiple surgeries, 20 vials of antivenin, blood transfusion, intubation, oxygen, and so much more. She was on the pediatric ICU for 6 days and the peds unit for 2 more. She is recovering; however, Riley will need additional care and monitoring for many months to come. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover all of the expenses and any donations in excess of Riley's medical expenses will be donated to other families with similar circumstances. Blood transfusions help save lives as it did with Riley so please donate blood and encourage others to as well!!
