Help Mike Beat Cancer

My family received very upsetting and unexpected news that my brother Mike has cancer. At only 22 years old, he has been diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. For those of you that know Mike, you know that he is always so happy, upbeat and carries the most positive outlook on life. To be hit with this news was a complete shock! Mike seemed perfectly healthy and on the outside, you would never know he had this awful, scary disease.

He was fortunate enough to catch it early. Thinking he had a bad cold or maybe even bronchitis he went to the urgent care to get things checked out. After a round of antibiotics didn’t work, the doctor suggested he have a chest x-ray. That was the day that everything changed.

The doctor called him one evening and advised Mike to get to the emergency room. The x-ray showed some sort of mass in his chest. He was immediately admitted into the hospital and after two weeks of numerous tests, biopsies and scans he received the diagnosis.

While this news is hard enough to accept, we weren’t expecting how expensive all the doctor visits and treatments would cost. Not to mention that the bills started piling up almost immediately.

Mike is not able to work as has been put on disability due to the 6 months of chemo treatment he will be on. A port has been placed in his chest which restricts him from being able to carry out his current job responsibilities.

Since his diagnosis in November, Mike’s strength and resilience has inspired us all. Somehow Mike is managing to keep his positive outlook on life and has committed to doing whatever it takes to beat his cancer.

My family and I are putting together this GoFundMe to help Mike navigate the overwhelming medical bills for various medical treatments, appointments, and daily living expenses that accompany such a fight.
