I'm Lauren Rodriguez, and I'm trying to raise enough money to send Aylin, Giselle and Raul (Ruly) Silva to Oaxaca to see their mother one last time before she dies.  

The Silva kids are incredibly resilient! They've had a rough time in the last few years, and they could really use our help right now.  They haven't seen their mom since she left the country to go back to Mexico about 10 years ago, after she and their father divorced.  Since then, the kids have had only sporadic contact with her.  They've been raised by their father, who works full time to make ends meet and who frequently needs to work on the East Coast.  Aylin (the oldest) has effectively taken on the responsibility of parenting her siblings, who are only two and four years younger than she is.  These kids have done incredibly well for having grown up without any maternal influence!

A couple of weeks ago, the kids found out that their mother is dying of leukemia.  The most recent estimate by her doctor is that she has less than three months to live.  Aylin, Giselle and Ruly want to see their mother before she passes away.  

We're trying to raise the funds for roundtrip flights for the three kids to travel from LAX to Oaxaca, and a little bit more for incidentals.  We're hoping to get the tickets so they can travel this week and get back in time to start school with their classmates.
